A Day in the Life

On June 1st in Liverpool, Paul McCartney played "A Day in the Life" for the first time live. When the song was recorded in 1967, the Beatles had already vowed to never tour again. Forty-one years later, during a concert at Liverpool's Anfield Stadium. Yoko Ono was present, and the band played over what seemed like the original orchestra tracks. Paul must have worked so hard to learn John's verses that he flubbed his own bridge, skipping the line "Found my coat and grabbed my hat." But he still turned the performance into a remarkable accomplishment, taking a complicated song mostly sung by Lennon and making it his own.
